Choosing a sufficiently warm mid-layer may sound simple, but considerations regarding material and thickness require some expertise.

Generally, down can be chosen for its good insulation, compressibility, and portability. However, it faces drawbacks such as poor breathability and inconvenience in cleaning. On the other hand, the merino wool mix provided by NEWTEX offers improved insulation and breathability. It has good moisture-wicking properties, ensuring a comfortable feeling even when sweating. It is easy to clean and can be machine-washed. It provides good warmth and can withstand extremely cold weather.

How to choose the fabric and thickness depends on the type and intensity of the activity. For low-intensity activities like walking or resting, down is preferred because the body does not sweat much, and there is no risk of feeling stuffy. For high-intensity activities such as running, cycling, or mountaineering, our blended wool option would be more suitable.
